As a parent I encouraged my daughter to cosplay. We go to all the anime conventions in FL.. She loves it but it does get expensive
I swear you are so lucky to have a dad that supports you're hobby of cosplaying! My parents (especially my dad) doesn't really support it mostly because they say it's a waste of money and don't really see that I enjoy doing it and have fun. My mom is more like (oh that's cool tell me more) and usually ask some questions about the character and the makeup I do but she's not too involved into it but I'll take what I can get. I can feel the positive energy as I listen to this tho great video!
My dad cosplays with me, he's cosplayed our past two conventions, at first he said he only did it to support me & my hobbies but now he admits he loves it, I've converted him into a cosplayer 😂

This was so wholesome! Your dad provided so much insight and its clear he really cares about your passion for cosplay. I would be interested to know how your dad felt about YouTube. My parents were pretty supportive of my cosplay, but they did not like YouTube, especially when I was just starting out.
My parents have always supported my cosplaying journey they always want pictures whenever I go to cons they love all the friends I’ve made along the way . They always want to hear what project I’m working on for my next convention and have always encouraged me to keep creating .
So I have a pretty strict mother, however she always knew I was a huge nerd specifically I had a show I was super obsessed with (and still am) called RWBY. Basically I got into cosplay cause I saw one of Anyas older videos of a RWBY cosplay and was like "OMG you can do that?!?" and proceeded to info dump on my mom and then drag her to a convention in my home made Umbreon (the pokemon) cosplay I made 🙂
Im so glad that my kids have a cosplayer for a dad. My oldest is really excited about cosplay and has gone to several cons in cosplay with me. My parents never wouldve done that with me. If they choose to keep on the cosplay path, i cant wait yo see what they make over the years.

My parents thought it was weird when i first started, but now a decade later, he goes to cons too! He doesn’t cosplay but it’s nice being supported

I loved this video! It was so wholesome and your dad's view was really good! I think all of the points you two touched on were all really good and important for parents and also their kids to understand. Cosplay is an amazing hobby and there's SO many skills you can learn from it!
Your dad is such a smart and insightful guy! I wanted to suggest another thing to young cosplayers if you're worried about your parents misinterpreting the show. If the character is quite innocent and covered up that you wish to cosplay, find or make compilation videos of just that character !

I'm glad your Dad is so supportive, Anya. My wife & I have always supported my daughter's cosplay since she started making her own outfits 7 years ago. We both dress up as well now because we've also fallen in love with making cosplay & attending Cons. Yet another great video, Anya. Keep them coming x
My dad isn’t super thrilled I spend so much on cosplay, but he’s relieved that I’m putting my efforts into a productive hobby, as opposed to vices such as drugs and alcohol, like others my age
